Autistic students participate in Every Player Counts project activities

Bolton St Catherine’s Academy, booked in for 6 weeks of football sessions through our Every Player Counts project.

The students who have autism, first came to us at Bolton Wanderers very quiet and shy, whilst being quiet wary of the new surroundings and new coaches they met, however it only took the first session to break the ice and make the students feel comfortable and familiar with the coaching staff and to get them really engaged in our football delivery.

The following 5 sessions saw the students take part in various challenges and football activities, as they grew in confidence each week they became more social with BWCT staff, school staff as well as each other.

It was a pleasure to work with this group and we look forward to having them back with us at our schools festival in May.

‘Bolton Wanderers Community Trust has been the best football experience for our young people, the coaches are engaging and encouraging, enabling the more subdued student to flourish! What an fantastic experience to be involved with’  Joanna Savage (Teacher)
