Coronavirus (Covid-19) – BWCT Response

During this unprecedented and turbulent period Bolton Wanderers Community Trust has continued to operate as best we can do to help the most vulnerable in the Bolton community, this includes:

Staff making phone calls alongside Bolton Wanderers Football Club staff to season ticket holders who are aged 70+. These calls are to check that one, they are coping well at this current moment and to see if they would like to schedule in a regular phone call with us whilst they are having to stay at home. Secondly they are to check if they require support in the form of accessing basic food provision and supplies.

Our staff are staying in contact with those being classed as most at risk that are currently engaged in a number of our community projects. This includes our elder participants on our Extra Time and Fitter Fans project, our disabled participants and any at risk young people such as those in the care system that we have been mentoring and continue to do so, even if remotely. We have also been delivering aspects of projects such as FIT TROTTERS online through whatsapp groups, video workouts and classroom sessions and supporting individuals to continue to stay active and maintain their well-being.

We have offered our staff and support to local educational establishments, and provided coaching staff in primary schools and Bolton College to deliver sports sessions to the children of essential workers and vulnerable and at risk children and young people.

We are working with the local community and voluntary sector through Bolton CVS to ascertain Bolton’s community response, filtering what resources are needed and establishing a voluntary response to the crisis.

Through our social media platforms we have been sharing and reinforcing key local and national messages with the wider community, raising awareness and understanding of what the guidance is, and encouraging people to follow it.

Thanks for all your on-going support and encouragement. We as Bolton Wanderers supporters and all involved in the Community Trust have a vital role to play in ensuring we all follow the Government Guidelines.

Keep in touch. Keep well. Keep safe.
